The Varionis

The Varionis

The Varionis formed in Spring 2007 to be Northern Irelands answer to The View, The Strokes and The Libertines and to throw their 2 pennies worth into the mix but it’s turned out to be more like a fiver. The gutsy, raw vocals and lyrics exploding from the front man are innocently wrapped up in uber catchy melodies........in other words it’s music your mum would dance to embarrassingly in the kitchen but would blush at its message. You know these 5 lads wouldn’t be together unless they shared the same passion for their music………..and Jack Daniels. Having recently attended one of their live shows, BBC Radio 1 Across The Line reviewer William Johnston claimed they were the love child of The View and The Stiff Little Fingers and their songs could easily sit alongside that of the Fratellis or the Libertines, not bad for a one year old. The Varionis are currently gigging across Northern Ireland and have been invited on a short tour of Scotland in September supporting The Trade playing in the legendary Doghouse and having recently recorded their first E.P. to widespread acclaim they aim to go far. One listen of tracks like “Molly Millers lane” and “24 Hour” bar will leave you with their choruses stuck in you head there to be hummed all week, and the spine tingling “I’ll go back for you” will leave you wanting more, which is no bad thing as you are likely to see more of them, a lot more
